You use the sharp end to puncture it.

I also use Obagi products, which are wonderful...

I am assuming that you have seen a dermatologist..... are the pimples.. red or just like a bump and white.. if they are white they are white heads... white heads can became cyst like..It is truly a wise tail that if you pop them .. your skin will become scarred .... when i was younger.. now 57 I had acne really bad....and my mom took me to a dermatologist..... weekly and they did acne surgery...they had a tool that would go in and pop them /get rid of them...I never scarred from this...

But if yu have gone to a dermotologist and he /she is not seeming to help get a second opinion...

Acne is a chronic disorder caused by excess production of oil from sebaceous glands causing of the hair follicles to become plugged. Pimples, black heads, white heads, cysts and sometimes scarring can result.

Acne usually appears around puberty but may also start in adulthood. About 85% of teenagers develop Acne, 15% of which may be moderate to severe. Acne is not infectious and the exact cause is not known but there are many treatments which are effective, but Acne is slow to respond or returns after treatment is stopped. Antibiotics are commonly prescribed to treat the resulting acne infections and pimples, often reducing the patients own immune system.

Both white heads and blackheads start out as a %26quot;microcomedone%26quot; or below the skin. The result of a microcomedone can be one of two scenarios. A blackhead or a white head. For each condition, blackheads and white heads are filled with trapped sebum and bacteria.

Accumulation of sebum and keratin under the skin may lead to the formation of open and closed comedones (blackheads and whiteheads).

- Bacterial colonization of the trapped sebum may cause an inflammatory reaction that produces inflammatory papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts.

The acne treatment advice is the therefore the same for both white heads and blackheads

Treatment of ACNE

- The face should be washed with a mild soap or soap which contains benzoyl peroxide. The face should be washed as often as necessary to keep clean, but not scrubbed or over-dried.

- Topical benzoyl peroxides (over-the-counter and prescription) affect both follicular keratinization and the bacterial infection. (Specific products may be recommended by a physician or pharmacist.)

- Topical retinoids (prescription only) act primarily on the abnormal follicular keratinization.

- Topical antibiotics (prescription only) kill the bacteria associated with acne.

- Systemic antibiotics (prescription only) also kill the bacteria associated with acne.

- Systemic retinoids (prescription only) shrink sebaceous glands and prevent follicular keratinization.

- Hormonal therapy (prescription only) may help by decreasing sebum production (androgens stimulate sebum production).
